ENEMY ALIENS.
Mr. Xash says that in Auckland alona there are 290 German nationals registered as enemy aliens and that, in addition, there are 150 naturalised Germans, a total of 440, of whom only 11 have beem interned. Of the 429 who still enjoy all the freedom of British-born citizens, Mr. Nash states, '"As soon as the authorities found anyone interfering with tha ideals for which New Zealand was fighting, they would be stopped." Dear nie. First of all, the Government proposes to wait not only until damage lias been done and the authorities have found out about it, but until the damage has been sheeted home to the responsible party before taking preventive measures. We are not entitled to act with the inhumanity that the enemy has everywhere shown, but at " least we owe it to our soldiers to remember we are at war and to wage it as if ws intended, occasionally at any rate, to get in first. GET OX WITH THE JOB.
