CHALLENGE TO EVERT WORKER.
I would like to appeal not only to everv worker but to every man, woman and "child to help 100 per "cent to defeat the biggest tyrant the world has seen. I suggest that every worker send a personal letter to the Prime Minister asking him to revert to the 48-hour working week in every industry in New Zealand for the duration of the war. Three yean ago Hitler insisted on the German* working 60 hours per week. What a terrific handicap it is for the Allies, who are working less hours, to keep pace with their opponents! The French people set us a noble example by agreeing to their leaders' appeal, over a year ago, to work longer hour* to be prepared for the war they saw on the horizon. Let us, one and all, follow their example and exhort our leaders to wake from their slumbers and put words into actions. Let us fill England with our -foodstuffs, so that she can feed her workers well; so that they can put their maximum strength into production of armaments. This war is a test of strength of military equipment of the Allies against the German military equipment. Not only in the primary production can we help Britain, but during the war, increased production of our industries will also help. NEW ZEALAND.
