OFFENCES ADMITTED. MAN'S FALSE PRETENCE. OITEHUNGA COURT CASE. Sentence of 6bt months' reformative detention was imposed on Charles Robert Hoggart in the Onehunga Magistrate's Court this morning by Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. Hoggart pleaded guilty to charges of obtaining money by false ■ pretences, and of stealing £20 in money. It was erplained to the magistrate i that Hoggart gave a note to a man named Church purporting to be signed by a Mr. Langstone, asking Church to give Hoggart £3. Mr. Langstone denied • signing the order. Concerning the theft ' charge, it was pointed out, that accusea lived with a man named Warbrook. who had £20 in a tin in his bedroom. When Warbrook returned from work he found that both the money and Hoggart had disappeared. When interviewed by the police accused admitted the theft. The police also stated that Hoggart had had previous convictions and at the time of committing the offences with which he was charged was on probation.
