Stimson as Secretary for War and Colonel Charles Knox as Secretary for the Navv. Senator R. A. Taft ami Senator 'Gerald 1\ Nye (Republicans) said that Mr. Stitnson's confirmation is likely to embroil the United States in the European war, Mr. Taft adding that the course Mr. Stimson advocated, which President Roosevelt sympathetically approved, logically demands the immediate declaration of war against Italy and Germany.
