LIKE THEIR TEA.
DOMINION SOLDIERS.
SUGGESTED CHRISTMAS GIFTS.
"Our fellows always want their cup of ten, and the British Army ration is never enough for them," said Lieuten-ant-Colonel T. H. Dawson at a meeting of the executive and finance sub-com-mittee of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee last evening, when the question of Christmas cheer for troops overseas was discussed. He said that he could not imagine the Army not supplying puddings, but suggested that parcels sent from the Dominion should include tea and sugar. A letter was received (from the National Patriotic Board suggesting that cakes and puddings should be included in Christmas gift parcels for each of the troops overseas. The women's activities sub-commit-tee recommended that the cakes and puddings should be procured from a caterer owing to the difficulty of obtaining cakes iu tins of uniform size and in obtaining puddings that would keep. It was decided to advise the board that while the committee Would supply cakes as required, it was thought that more acceptable gifts could be sent than puddings, and suggested that the board should get in touch with commanding officers overseas.
