DEFEATISM WRONG.

POSITION OF BRITAIN. GOD'S PLAN FOR MANKIND. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. "The purpose of my address is to combat the defeatism current among some Christian bodies," said Mr. C. W. i Clift. president of the New Zsalandj branch of the British Israel World Federation, speaking 511 the Y.W.C.A. Hall, "Wild stories are heard concerning the defeat of Britain, and that the Empire is about to come under the rule of Antichrist." Such ideas, he said, showed a complete misconception of the nature and purpose of God's plan for mankind, and were derived in the main from a totally false interpretation of the prophetic Scriptures. After quoting from the Bible to show that Britain was Israel, and therefore the one Power in the world whose continued existence as a nation was guaranteed by God Himself, the speaker dealt with prophecies which concerned the Gentile Powers, and showed that all through history the nation Israel stood apart from these nations and in opposition to them. '1 he time was not far distant when opposition of these two groups would result in the Battle of Armageddon, when the Stone Kingdom, Israel, would, under the guidance of God, destroy the military might of the Gentile Powers under the Man of Sin. Till complete victory, Britain's power must continue, and God had promised that it would do so. The recent split between Britain end France was an event visualised bv the British Isruei World Federation for years past. It was not the disaster it appeared to be, but would turn 6ut to be of great assistance. Mr. Clift concluded by stressing the importance of the home front, showing from Scripture that when the nation turned to God, kept His laws and reinstituted His civil statutes, then its armies, even if not great in numbers, would be absolutely invincible.
