NEW CHAIRMAN.

MR. W. MARSHALL APPOINTED. WEIX-KNOWN WAIKATO FIGURE. (By Telegraph.— Own correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day.
Mr. William Marshall, of Paeroa, was appointed chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company at a meeting of the directorate of the company to-day.
Mr. Marshall was born in Surrey, England, and came to New Zealand in 1006. He waa first engaged in building and contracting in Auckland and went to Paeroa about 23 years ago to enter into similar business. For the laeit 10 years he hae been farming close to Paeroa.
In local body affairs Mr. Marshall's career ie unique, for he hae held the positions of mayor and county council chairman at the same time for nine years. He was first elected to the Paeroa Borough Council in 1919, and is now in his seventeenth consecutive year ae mayor. Since being elected to the Ohinemuri County Council, Mr. Marshall hae held the position of chairman. Mr. Marshall is a .member of the executives of the New Zealand Municipal Association and the Counties' Association. He is also a vice-president of the Municipal Association and president of the County Councils' Industrial Union of Employers. Aβ representative of municipalities 'he ie a member of the New Zealand Town Planning Board.
In the dairy world Mr. Marshall is equally well known. For the past five 3'ears he hae been a member of the directorate of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, as representative of the Paeroa ward, and for the last three has been deputy-chairman.
