EMERGENCY PLAN.
MEETING OF COUNCIL
HON. W. E. PARRY ATTENDS.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, met the council of the Emergency Precautions organisation at the Town Hall this morning when a full discussion iook place on all matters appertaining to the organisation. Major-Generai J. E. Dtiigan, Colonel N. W. McD. Weir and local members of Parliament were in attendance. The Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, as chairman of the council, presided and outlined the details of the scheme.
Other members of the organisation explained various aspects, and the Minister, after addressing the conference, expressed keen appreciation of the work' which had been done by the organisation and his satisfaction of tha scheme in general.
Opportunity was taken to confer with Major-General Duigan and officers of the Department of Internal Affairs who were present, and it was indicated that the booklet ot instructions to the public was rcaay for circulation during the forthcoming week. Wardens would then be in a position to complete their side cyf the organisation. During the conference, the chairman stated that shortly the sphere of the work of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council was to be considerably expanded, calling far the efforts of all to assist in constructing a system of complete communal activity.
An announcement would be made shortly when it would b e seen that every citizen in the community would be called upon to put bis or her shoulder to the whe«l.
