TAKANINI HORSES.

TRENTHAM CANDIDATES. AIR rOliT AND SACCONE. One of the latest acquisitions to the ranks of hurdlers at Takanini is Annacourt, who, following her failure al the reocnt Waipa meeting, was ti icd as a jumper before undertaking a schooling ta>'k with Saecone earlier in the week, it

can be *aid of Armaeourt that idle is adapting herself well her now rolt', and possibly in Lire not far distant future .-diemay atone for her long lapse of form on the flat. A nil aeon rt may be nominated for the hui'4le event at the Mutant ata meeting later in the month.

Due to make his next appearance at the Trentham meeting on Thursday, the two-yeur-olil Air I'ort appeals as a youngster likely to make his presence felt in the decision of the Trial and Novice Handicaps at that fixture. In his previous racing Air I'ort did well enough on a restricted preparation to indicate that he would do better when fully develoifrd and, having furnished into an attractive colt since lie last raced, better things are e.ipected of him.

Saeconc's prospects as a juniper will lie better known at Trentham on Tuesday, when he will contest the minor hurdle event. His form in open handicap company was quite good, and it would seem that he has only to take the obstacles at all well to make good in this department. He lias shaped satisfactorily in schooling bouts, and his trainer's confidence in his jumping ability may make the trip to Trenthtjip justified.

Quite a number of well-known performers have resumed work at Takaniui during the last week, among these being Nnnmra. Mysito. Surpai, Maxam, Tellsoui, Valimeeii and The Dozer. Namara looks a picture and is ready to undergo another preparation, while Mysiro's condition also suggests that lie is in great fettle to resume training. Surpai, winner of a couple of minor juvenile, races in the autumn, was affected in the wind last season, and in all probability the Surveyor eolt will undergo an operation for the trouble. Maxam has been off tlie scene for some time owing to muscular soreness, which has frequently interfered with her preparations, but she has been subjected to treatment in the interim, and boars a fine appearance t-> undergo a further trial. Valimeen developed tendon trouble late last autumn, and an enforced respite, during which she was lightly blistered, has found the Vaals filly in a nice state, and she is again bowling along freely in her work.

It has not yet been definitely decided whether Dauber will be making the trip to Rjccarton next month, but this is under consideration. His trainer, A. Tinker, has the Itomney gelding in first-class fettle at. fhe moment, and should the trip eventuate Dauber's showing at tlie Grand National meeting will be of particular interest to Northerners. Young, as steeplechasers go, Dauber is a remarkably consistent performer since he has had his attention confined to jumping races, and since last January he has been out of the money only once, that lieing when he fell over another horse while contesting a hurdle event on the second day of the last June meeting.

A filly who has commanded some attention Is the yearling by Foxbridge from Teremai attached to H. Gray's stable. Of nice size and conformation, the youngster possesses a good action, and in due course may take her place among tlie successful juveniles in the new season. Teremai is a daughter of Tea Tray and Taiamai, a:id the filly therefore is closely related to the successful mare Ti Tree, who carried Mr. C. G. Mclndoe's colours \vith distinction when trained by J. T. Jamieson some seasons ago. The filly's dam was a full sister to Ti Tree.

Closely related to the brilliant colt Beanlirre, a very fine stamp of colt by Bulandshar, is undergoing his preparatory work under F. Smith's guidance. His dam. Pass On, was by Callaghan from Password. tlie latter also being the grandam of Beaulivre. This colt does not possess the same characteristics as his famous relative, but it Is agreed that he is a very fine type of colt, who may eventually emulate the deeds of his relative.
