THE FRENCH DEBACLE.

I quite agree with XV. M. Barton that the causes of the French debacle go a long way further than the alleged pleasure-loving masses. The real causes are like the fang* of a huge conspiraev of black devilment staged in Europe for several years past. To enumerate some of them: (1) The betrayal of the Vienna Government in the earlv part of 1934; the genesis of our present war. (2 The fctavisky and the Kreuger scandal never cleared up; the' genesis of our great world-wide depression, 1929 to 1930. (3) The mysterious death of Kinj Albert of the Belgians, never satisfactorily explained. (4) The assassination oi King Alexander of Yugoslavia, who was permitted to land in Marseilles, the worst spot in all Europe. (5) The gross betrayal of all international law in the Spanish war of Fascist agression. lheie are some of the things which make very bitter reading indeed. Thev do so because they indicate the black, orgy of treachery which has been permitted to engulf Europe. When Britain crushes that treachery she will win the world> .greatest victory. K. M. THOMSON.
