CITY RESERVES.
"VERY FAVOURABLE SEASON."
SUPERINTENDENT'S REVIEW.
Progress and development on a big scale is referred to in the annual report of the superintendent of city parks, Mr. T. S. Aldridge, who states that the past season has been a very favourable one from the point of view of the gardener.
The report states that Albert Park had maintained its reputation as one of the best floral parks under the control of the City Council, and both spring and summer displays were very attractive. The Auckland Domain had never been kept in better condition, and the Centennial Walk had been sown in grass, which was regularly mown. The Winter' Gardens continued to be of great interest to visitors, and the nursery had been popular with students and lovers of native plants.
The report added that during the year the now portion of the rose garden at Parnell Park bad been completed and improvements had been carried out at the Domain Cricket Ground, Victoria Park and other suburban parks and reserves.
