PERSONAL.
The Hon. B. Martin arrived from Wellington by the Limited express this morning. Messrs. TV. J. Cuthbert and J. F. Wilson have been appointed wharf superintendents, according to & Gazette notice. Messrs. C. W. Boewell and W. T. Anderton, M.P.'s, were passengers from Wellington by the Limited express this morning. Dr. R. G. McElroy has been appointed representative of the Auckland City Council on the board of managers of the Elam School of Art. Mr. F. E. Bailey, secretary of the Wellington War Relief Association, has been appointed secretary of the Wellington Metropolitan T.itriotic Committee. Professor E. R. Hudson, of Lincoln College, has been appointed a member of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, according to a Gazette notice. Messrs. S. J. Harhutt. chairman. R. H. Bartley, general manager, and X. MSpeer. secretary of the Auckland Electric Power Board, returned from Wellington by train this morning. Mr. R. D. H. Hill has been elected a member of the English Town Planning Institute. Mr. Hill'has prepared several town planning schemes in Xew Zealand, and at present is engaged on a scheme for the Hutt Valley area. Captain C- V. Stanich, who ha=. been acting waterfront controller for the Port of Auckland since the transfer of Mr. R. E. Price, the original controller, to the post of chairman of the Waterside Control Commission in April, has been appointed to the position, according to a Gazette announcement. Mr. John E. Connell. agricultural instructor for the Hamilton district of the Auckland Education Board, has been nominated for the position of senior agricultural instructor in the Taranaki education district. Mr. R. Syme, of Hawera, who has been offered the position, has declined for private reasons, thus causing the vacancy.
