MR. THOMAS STONE.

CHRISTCHUBCH, Thursday.
The death has occurred of Mr. Thomau Stone, sub-editor for 45 years of the "'Lyttelton Times," which in the last few years of its life became the "Christchurch Times." Mr. Stone commenced his career on the "Telegraph," an evening paper published in Christchurch. He continued in newspaper work in Taranaki and Ashburton, where he represented the "Lyttelton Times." From this position he graduated in 1890 into the subeditorial chair of the "Times," holding the position until the paper ceased publication in 1035.
