OBITUARY.
MR. MARSHALL LAIRG.
RECORD OF PUBLIC SERVICE.
Possessing a record of service in local government extending over half a century, Mr. Marshall Laing, aged 80, has died at his home in Xew Lynn, in which district he had lived for the greater part of his life. From 1911 Mr. Laing sat on the A\ aitemata County Council continuously for 21 years, including three years as chairman, and also represented the county on the Auckland Harbour Board from 1923 to 1935, and was a member of the Auckland Hospital Board from 1929 until 1935.
Born at Titirangi, Mr. Laing worked on the family farm at what is now known as Laingliolm, near the Manukau Harbour, until the age of 21, later breakin? in other large properties. Ha retired in 1921, making his home in Xew Lynn. Married twice, Mr. Laing is suryived bv h"a wife, two eons and one daughter. There are ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
