MANUKAU'S HEAVY PACK WILL TEST NORTH SHORE.

Leading teams in the Auckland Kugoy League's senior championship competition, jSorth Shore and Manukau, will meet at Carl aw Park to-morrow, and the result will have an important bearing on the club championship for the season. At the moment North Shore, with six wins out ot seven matches' played, are at the head of the table with 12 points. Manukau are one point behind. They have won six 01 their seven matches and have had one

drawn game. Botli teams will be strongly represented for the occasion. Manukau expect to field tlie heaviest pack in the code. In Watene, Itirinui and Marsh they have three players over 16.0 in weight and in Kei and Brodrick two over 14.0. Manukau lias a dependable full-back in Martin, a strong three-quarter. line in. Te Tai, Chase and Butler, and a talented inside pair m Herni and Tawhai.

'Shore expect to match Manukau in tiie forwards with a good all-round heavy pacK, although not as heavy as their opponents, but a paek comprising. Fields, Condon, Graham, Petersen and E. Scott piny well together, both in the tight piny and tlie loose. . . There has been marked improvement in the .Shore back play this season, a decided acquisition being J- 8.. Donaldson, the •Mount Albert live-eighth of last season. However, he was injured in a recent match. Shore are well served by McArthur at halfback, have an exceptionally good positional player in .T. .Smith in the inside backs, two of the fastest wing* in Auckland in Cheater and Evans, and a very dependable lull-back in V. Scott. The match may develop on the lines of orthodox play by Shore, compared with traditional unorthodox play by Manukau, but there should bo little between the two teams at the end of, the day. , In the early match on the No. 1 ground j Marist will meet an improving team in Pon-; son by, both teams at the moment being near the bottom of the points table. New ton, who had the lead earlier in the season, have been drawn to meet City on the No. '2 ground.
