"SEVENTH COLUMN ACTIVITIES."
I - can well understand "Never Say DieV feelings 'about tUe (what lie terms) "Seventh Columnists" in our midst, who from the Bible can prove (to their own satisfaction) that Britain's fate is already sealed —that utter annihilation awaits the Empire and that "there is nothing We can do albout it." The pity of it is that most of these crazy folk are sincere and can quote chapter and verse. Well, that's that—and it doesn't get us half as far as conscription will, after all. To my mind, it wouldn't he a l»ad idea for our Police Department to attend the meetings of some of these, cranks and take a few shorthand notes for the enlightenment of the Courts, who are working so hard to put down "subversive" propaganda. Secretly spreading piiTle of this kind and smearing it over with religious ointment and .searing hysterical ■people into an acceptance of what they blasphemously term "God's Holy Will" is, to my mind,- tile most dangerous of all propaganda. It may be part, of God's plan to place Herr Hitler hi charge _of the world—but—I'd have to have God's word for it—in a personal riieesage—not any anonymous correspondent's. MacCLURE.
