INTEREST IN OIL BORE.
CASUAL VISITORS BARRED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Great public interest is being shown in the New Zealand Petroleum Oomr pany's oil exploration activities at Midhirst. A notice has now been erected at the entrance gates stating that absolutely no persons are allowed inside, unices they are on business connected with the work. • Thus- the gallery stands have ■ been removed froni what, in a very short time, had become one of Taranaki's show places. "We regret very much having to take this step, for we appreciate that the work is new to Taranaki," said the drilling supervisor, Mr. H. L. La Marr, when speaking to a "Daily News" reporter yesterday. He pointed out that the large crowd of Sunday laet hindered the work of the drill crew, besides treating the possibilities of accidents involving the public. No objection, lie said, could, and would be taken to the public viewing the location from the roadside.
