MANY ENLISTMENTS.
STATE STAFFS DEPLETED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. As a result of recent enlistments in the railways and Public Works companies, the staffs of at least two Government Departments in Rotorua are at present depleted. Since the outbreak of ■war seven of the 25 members of the traffic branch of the Rotorua railway station staff have been accepted for active service, while five more have recently been called up, including two members of the locomotive branch. Two relieving men will arrive this week, but in ■ the meantime the staff is seriously depleted. Three members of the Rotorua Public Works clerical staff have already left on active service, as well as one from the stores department. The district engineer, Mr. F. L. Park, has also been appointed to the railway company, with the rank of captain. The staff of the Forestry Department in the district .has also been depleted as a result of .enlistments.
