YOUTH IN N.S.W. ATTACKED GIRL COUSIN. THEN COMMITTED SUICIDE. (Special—By Air Mail.) SYDNEY, June 19. In the short space of 15 minutes, at a farmhouse near Goyra, on May 27, a youth of 18 shot his mother dead, attacked his 13 year-old cousin, and then committed suicide. This was revealed at the inquest last week on Myrtle May Mclntyr.', 43, and Frank Colin Charles Mclntyre, 18, wife and son of James tyaeburn Mclntyre. The girl concerned, Daphne leabel Ditton, said thai' on the morning of May 27 she went to see her aunt, Mrs. Mclntyre, to help her with her weekly washing. At lunch time the men came in from work, Frank Mclntyre being among them. After lunch they all went back to work except Mclntyre, who asked her to put on the wireless. She went inside and did so and was outside again when Mclntyre met her. C "He caught hold of me by the throet and forced me down on my'back on the sofa," the girl told the coroner. "He did not speak, but held me hard by the throat. I struggled with him and called out for my aunt. He tried to hold m<; down on the sofa, but I fell off the sofa on to the floor and got away fi'oin hi.> hold. "While we were struggling on the floor I looked out and saw my aunt's head lying on the tub in the washhouse. 1 thought she might have fainted. Frank then let me go and made me go back U. the sofa. I went back. I was frightened Frank walked outside. I think he went to the kitchen. He stayed away about ft minute and then came back to where I was. "I got away from him and ran down to my grandmother's place, about 200 yards away. I told her what Frank had tried to do to me and that I had called out to aunty, but she did not answer. We went back to Mclntyre's place, and when we got there aunt'e head was stili where 1 had seen it. We lifted her up. and grandma told me to go and tell my father. 1 did not see Frank when wu returned to the house." The girl then ran out to one of the farm workers and told him "Frankie" had gone mad and hurt or murdered his mother. The farm worker went ba.-k to the house with her and found Mrs. Mclntyre lying dead on a bed, where she had apparently been placed before Mclntyre committed suicide. .Mclntyre's body was lying on another bed. a" pe< rifle was nearby. Medical evidence was given that Mrs. Mclntyre was killed by a bullet which entered the back of her neck, and Mclntyre by a bullet in th<; heart. The coroner returned a linding of murder and suicide.
