MUSICIANS' LOSS.
INSTRUMENTS. GO DOWN. Like most of the other passengers, members of the Niagara's band have lost valuable possessions through the disaster which befel the vessel yesterday morning. Mr. l>. A. Watters, of Auckland, calculated his loss of a saxophone, two clarionets and music at £130, while Mr. G. A. Peakc, of Sydney, is regretting that he elected to take a new bass fiddle on his last trip in the Niagara instead of an old one. It cost him £00, and is now at the bottom of the ocean. Mr. C. Mclntyre, leader of the band, of Sydney, also lost a variety of instruments, but Mr. Denis Morgan, the pianist, lost principally personal possessions. Mr. Mclntyre's companions state that he was in a cabin about ten yards removed from the hold in which the explosion occurred and was "blown out of bed." The door of his cabin was also blown off, hinges and all. .
