ACCOUNTS UNPAID.
GUEST AT CITY HOTELS. CARPENTER IMPEISOXED. Pleading guilty to obtaining credit by fraud, Robbie Alexander Lyon (40), single; a carpenter, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment and ordered to make restitution' to the amount of £19 7/3 by Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. DetectiveSergeant Walsh prosecuted and Mr. Aekins appeared for the accused. Detective XV. H. Slater produced, a signed statement made by the accused in -which he admitted ho had stayed at one hotel in the city and had not paid the account for board and lodgings, £14 13/. He had then gone to another, hotel and had not paid an account for £4 14/3. In one ease he had told the licensee he was a contractor in a big way, which was untrue. .Mr. Aekins said accused had been employed on State houses and had earned good wages, but had foolishly spent the money in drink instead of paying '.for his board. On. the first of the two charges accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment', and on the second he was placed on probation tor. twelve months, and ordered ;to make restitution to. the amount of '£19 7/3.
