PERSONAL.
Mr. X. D. Jones, traffic superintendent of Qantas Empire Airways, Ltd., is visiting Auckland. Mr. J. A. Nash has been re-elected chairman of the Palmerston Xorth Hospital Board. Mr. P. E. Stainton has been re-elected chairman of the Taranaki Hospital Board for the ensuing two years. Messrs. A. Murdoch. S. W. House and S. Donaldson have been elected as the local body representatives on the Museum Council for the ensuing term. Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the General Staff, who had been suffering from an attack of influenza, has returned to his duties at Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dr. J. W. Craven, surgeon and superintendent of the Auckland Hospital Ambulance Division, who is leaving on active service shortly, was presented with a cigarette case bv AmbulanceOfficer J. H. ilather on* behalf of the Hospital Division. In thanking the members, Dr. Craven stated that he wa s very pleased with the work of the division, and hoped it would grow in numbers. Jlr. H. H. Sterling, a former general manager of the Xe*v Zealand railways, has offered his services free to the Government for six months, ami he is to be liaison officer to the Minister of Transport, says a Press Association telegram from Wellington. In announcing acceptance of Mr. Sterling's offer, the Hon. R. Seniplc paid a tribute to Mr. Sterling'* wide experience and knowledge of transport and his driving force.
