PLAYING GROUNDS.
FAFAXUBA CAMP NEED. The urgent need for a gymnasium, and the fact that nothing was being done at Papakura camp to provide suitable grounds upon which football, hockey or cricket ca~> >e played was causing some perturbation, said Mr. G. Bush, in presenting the report of the sports subcommittee to the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Association last evening. He said it was understood the Government now promised to have the grounds ready for cricket in the coming season, but a similar promise had been made six months ago regarding grounds for football, but nothing had been done. His committee had, said Mr. Bush, provided the necessary equipment, and, as a building could not be erected and made ready for use under possibly six months, the committee thought something should be done to meet the situation in the meantime. A suitable marquee could be secured and the necessary lighting installed at a total cost of approximately £215. It was decided to recommend the provincial council to make strong representations to the National Patriotic Fund Board to have a suitable gymnasium provided at Papakura camp, the board to take whatever action it thought appropriate.
