BAN ON TRAVEL.

CONTROL PLANNED. CONSERVING MAN-POWER. SINGLE AND MARRIED MEN. (B.r Tele-graph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Control under emergency Government regulations of all travel from New Zealand is to be imposed, according to an j announcement by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Tarry. (Greatest restrictions are to be imposed on single men of military age, single men over 45 and married men of all ages. In tlic case of women, consideration will be given to their occupation and the reasons advanced for their proposed journey. In the case of a single man up to 45 years old, a permit to leave the country will definitely be refused unless he is unfit for military or civil service. A permit to leave temporarily will be refused except on exceptional grounds and then only on a substantial bond being given for a return to this country. Single men over 45 and all married nun will be granted permission to leave only in exceptional cases and where applicants are unfit for active or home service. Here again a substantial bond will be required. t.u.scs of persons who have been resident in New Zealand for not more than two years and who have not come here to reside, permanently, will be considered on their merits before permits are granted. " l'he policy has been laid down with tho idea, of conserving the man-power of New Zealand for national service," explained Mr. Parry. "The arrival of women in England might easily provide a serious problem, and in their own interests the women of the Dominion should remain in their own country. "The Minister of Man-power and the Minister of Internal Affairs, will maintain close contact in dealing with travel applications to ensure that essential men are not allowed to leave the country even for temporary absences if their services are likelv to be needed here."
