AIR FORCE TRAINEES.
Congratulations on your sub-leader regarding the above, also to A. Garnett for his outspoken letter. lam 19. Just ■before the last sitting of the Selection Committee about three months ago I enlisted, but beyond being told to "defer offering your services for other war duties pending a decision in regard to this application," I have heard nothing. The Huns have beaten the Allies back to Paris. The cry is for more pilots and planes, but are they being sent as fast as they should? A short time ago Mr. Jones announced that no candidate would have to wait longer than three months to hear the result of his application. To begin with, three months are wasted. Then five months of night school (this period could be considerablv shortened if the trainee could attend a day school five days a week), four j months at a ground training school, and then to Canada, which means that the trainee may, if he is lucky, be fighting by Christmas, 1941. What a prospect! SPITFIRE.
