NEW LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL. The deputy-Mayor, Mr. J. S. Akehijrst, presided over a special meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council last eveniug to consider and adopt the estimates. The council approver! of the same consolidated rate as last year—2/11 in the £ on the unimproved value lor the town area and 1/5 on the Kelston area. War Expenses Account.—The council ■had before it an application from the Joint Council of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society asking for a donation towards the sick and wounded fund. The council decided that as it was more urgent to concentrate on winning the war at the present moment that £23 be donated to the war expenses account in preference to making a donation to the sick and wounded fund at the present time. devaluation of Borough.—lt was further resolved that in view of the low capital value for the borough, which was revalued in 1935, that an application be made to the Valuation Department for a revaluation of the capital value to bring the values into line with current market values.
