KING'S BIRTHDAY MATCH.

The opinion that old Rugby players liad a duty to the game and should support it bv their attendance at Eden Park was voiced by Air. A. A. Baker, chairman or' the Kugby Union, at the meeting of the management committee last evening. Many of them, he said, were engaged m other activities and did not attend the matches. Mr. Baker added that it should be the union's policy to play games at Eden Park which would arouse public enthusiasm. Mr. L. Meek said that the matter of filling Eden Park was not half as important as filling the playing fields. The balanceSheet was not Lhe most important part of Kugby. The judicial committee reported on the case of M. Grace and E. Dunn, who were ordered off in a match between Otahuhu and Papakura Infantry last Saturday. Heather, of Hamilton, was selected to referee the Auckland v. Waikato ma-tch at Hamilton next Monday. Mr. F. W. Lucas i« to manage the Auckland team. For the inter-island university match at Eden Park on Saturday Mr. .T. A. Malcolm was appointed referee, while Mr. A. M. Matheson, the former Auckland representative, km appointed to referee the match between New Zealand Universities and United Services on Monday. It was agreed that the Services team should play in the Papakura Camp colours. The Bav of Plenty Union wrote continuing August 31 as the date of its match against Auckland a.t Auckland, and the Thames Valley Union confirmed July 27 as the date of its match against an Auckland B team. July 20 was fixed for College Day. The New Zealand Rugby Union notified the reinstatement of A. N. Campbell, I. B. Simpson, W. I). McKinlay and N. F. Clarke. Messrs. O. S. Harvey and L. Meek were I appointed to act as supervising officials in connection with the university match at Eden Park on Saturday next, while Messrs. It. S. Harrop and R. B. Hardy were appointed to act on Monday. Officials appointed for other grounds on Saturday next were a« follow: —Papakura. Mr. S. A. Smith: Sturges Park, Mr. H. T. Revel 1: Showground*. Mr. A. L. Eden, Gribble-Hirst Fark, 1.30 p.m.. Mr M. J. Parri*=. Line umpires, YAeu Park >o. 1, Messrs. J. J. Rntledffe, R. .T. MacLachlan. Referees for Waikaraka Park, Messrs. H. .T. Blow, J. Hinton and C. T. Tbe first representative fixture of the season, against Waikato. at Hamilton, will be played despite the aJteration in the holiday arrangements.
