MANCHESTER UNITY
CONCLUDING SESSION.
INSTALLATION CEREMONY. . OFFICIAL SICK VISITOR. Marking the final ceremony of tiie aniiiiHl conference of the Manchester Unity (Auckland), 1.0.0. F., the installation of the new D.G.M. took place in the Manchester Unity Hall last evening. Bro. W. G. Pitcher, P.D.G.M. was the master of ceremonies, whilst Bro. Frank Hard, P.D.G.M., and Bro. R. T. Scott, P.D.G.M.,, officiated as conductors.
Bro. C. A. Ryder, the Grand Master elect, was installed in office by the outgoing Grand Master. Bro. W. F. Bates. Subsequently Bro. W. F. Bate* was presented with the P.D.G.M.'s Jewel and certificate. The impressive ceremony was attended by a large gathering of delegate* and members of the Order from all over the Auckland district.
A ball followed. Bro. W. G. Pitcher capably carried out the duties of master of ceremonies, whilst the arrangements for supper were in the capable hands of Bros. H. V. Hampton, P.G., and R. F. Newton, P.G., assisted by a number of members of the city and suburban lodges. The Mount Albert Lodge orchestra supplied the music.
In the final business session yesterday afternoon the conference made "provision for the holding of the election of officers in the event of its being decided not lo hold the annual conference in 1941.
A new appointment made wne that of district official sick visitor to look att-ir the interests of members of the district, who may be in hospital or otherwise incapacitated in Auckland. Bro. Reginald P. V. Hayter was appointed and received the thanks of the conference for past services in this connection.
