BIG SURPLUS IN SIGHT.
REDUCED LEVY POSSIBLE
In .1 report to the board tho treasurer, Mr. R. F. Oalbraith. dealt with the period of eleven months completed, and fravo figures which indicated that there would 'be a surplus of £50.000 for the year. The actual maintenance payments for the eleven months' period were £304,390, or £21.301 below the estimated amount for (lie period. The maintenance receipts were £147.173, or £25,391 above the estimate. In the period under review- £141.138 was collected, as compared with £94,187 fees paid during the correspondin<r period of 1935-39.
Mr. G. T. Par'vin expressed the hope that when the estimates were considered at the next meetinjr, the board would consider reduction of the Jew.
The chairman. Mr. Allan J. Moody, said that if it were possible a reduction in the levy would be made. In any case it would not be increased.
