Frank Wootton Dies Suddenly At Age Of 46. WORLD-WIDE REFUTATION.. (Received 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The death has occurred of Frank Wootton, suddenly, at the age of 40. He was rated as one of the greatest jockeys the world has known. He headed the winning jockeys' list in England in 1909, 1910, 1911 and 1912. Frank Wootton was the son of the well-known Sydney owner-trainer, Mr. E. Wootton, and is a brother to the prominent English trainer, S. Wootton. About the beginning of the present century Mr. Wootton decided to go to England to train and took his family with him. A few years later Frank commenced to attract attention as a jockey and in all rode 882 winners. At the latter end of his career he was riding over obstacles and met with a good deal of success in this department.
