The Commerce Ministry's figures reveal that Turkish exports to Germany in January and February represent only 2 per cent of Turkey's total exports, against 5S per cent in the same two months of 1039. Exports to Britain and France in January and February jumped to 28 per cent against only 6 per cent in the corresponding- period last year. Tlie record reduction in the unemployment figures for March is generally regarded as an indication of the speeding up of Britain's wartime industrial effort. The "Xews Chronicle" saythat at last. ISTANBUL, April -ft. Before his departure for London the British Ambassador to Turkey, Sir Hughe Knatchbull-Hugessen, had an interview with the President, General Inonu, and the Foreign Minister, M. Saracoglu.
A spokesman stated that the 'Ambassador was informed that Turkey m» persevering in her decision to remain outside tbe war, and did not intend to enter the war against Russia. She was determined to live peacefully an<l to work for the maintenance of peaw. He added that at present there was no danger of war in the Balkans.
