SAMPLES OF MILK.
AUCKLAND BUTTERTAT TESTS. During February 197 samples of milk were taken in Auckland city and suburbs for test purposes by the Department of Health, the butterfat average being 4.." iS per cent and only six samples failing to comply with the regulations. On the Xorth Shore 3.1 samples were taken, the btittcrfnt average being 4.71 per cent, with only one sample below standard. This was reported at to-day's meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council, Mr. I. J. Goldstine being in the chair. A further report .from the Department of Agriculture stated that climatic conditions throughout the mouth had been fairly satisfactory from the point of view of milk production. A fair amount of hay had been lost owing to the wet weather, but at present there were no indications of a shortage of winter feed.
