Mr. G. J. Smith, of Cbristchurch, is visiting Auckland. Mr. F. A. Hellabv has been appointed a trustee on the Cornwall Park Trust Board. Mr. W. T. Anderton, M.P., arrived in Auckland by train from Wellington this morning. Dr. T. H. Pettit has returned to Auckland. He has been attending a meeting of the medical advisory council of the Plunket Society in Wellington. Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the UnUed Kingdom, will leave Wellington to-morrow for a fortnight's visit to Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch. Mr. Donald McPhee, Dominion president of the Xew Zealand Trained Masseurs' Association, is leaving for Wellington to-night to attend the annual meeting of the association. Wing-Commander A. de T. Nerill. Wing-Commander E. G. Olson, both of Wellington, and Squadron-Leader G. N. Roberts, of Auckland, have been appointed honorary aides-de-camp to the Governor-General. Mr. A. E. Hargreaves, district traffic manager for Xew Zealand Railways in Wellington, retired on April 1 on the completion of 40 years' service. Mr. Hargreaves has had charge of three traffic districts, at Invercargill, Dunedin and Wellington, this being a record in the history of the Department. Canon D. B. Malcolm, who for the past two years has been residing in Wellington as secretary for the Church of England Cathedral Fund and secretary of the Church of England Committee dealing with wartime activities, has returned to Hawera with Mrs. Malcolm to resume his duties as vicar of St. Mary's parish. Struck in the eye by a stone flying from the wheel of a. passing car as he was standing outside the Waitomo Hostel yesterday afternoon, Mr. Charles Barrett* aged 21, an employee at the hostel, suffered injuries necessitating his removal to the Waikato Hospital-
