RAISED AGAIN.
PRICE OF PETROL. INCREASE OF HALFPENNY. WAR RISK INSURANCE. (By Telegraph.—Presa Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. An increase of one half-penny a gallon in the price of petrol throughout New Zealand as from to-morrow morning is announced by the oil companies. The reason is said to be the rising cost of recent oversees shipments, not only in the f.o.b. price of motor spirit, but also in freight costs and rates of war risk insurance. The full details fcf the companies' increased costa have been submitted to the Department of Industries and. Commerce, which has approved the increased price. Notice of the increase is contained in the Gazette issued this evening. This is the sixth riee since last August, when the petrol tax was raised by 4d a gallon to finance defence expenditure. The other five increases have been at ■the instance of the oil companies, one being of Id a gallon and four at one halfpenny a gallon. At the beginning of August the retail prices were 2/ and 1/11 a gallon; to-day they are 2/7 and 2/6, according to grade.
