AUCKLAND WEST.
NATIONAL CANDIDATE. NO CHOICE MADE YET. It is believed that the question of choosing and nominating a National party candidate for the Auckland West eeat, rendered vacant by the death of the late Prime Minister, will be diseussed by the new executive of the party in the electorate within the next week or two. Last night the newlyelected executive was given power to act in making a choice for nomination »f a candidate. Over one hundred members attended the annual meeting, which was held in the Leys Institute. Officers elected at the meeting were:— President, Mr. A. McKenzie; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. A. C. Allum and E. D. Stallworthy; secretary, Mr. J. B. Finlayeon; treasurer, Mr. W. H. Fortune. Fifteen men and eleven women were elected ae the executive committee. No names of possible candidates for the seat were mentioned. It was stated at the meeting that, before expressing any opinion, the Dominion executive of the National party would await action en the part of the local executive.
