AJAX HAS WON £38,025.

MOSAIC DEFEATS MAIKAL

SYDNEY, March 31. By winning the C. W. Cropper Plate on the concluding day of the Australian Jockey Club's autumn meeting at Randwick yesterday, Ajax carried his stake earnings to £38,025, which is only £37 10/ behind those of his great sire. HeroicThere was a provision in the will of his late part-owner, Mr. E. L. Bailleau, that Ajax should be sold when his racing career was finished and it was arranged that he should be sold next month. However, his i present owners are inclined to race him ! for another season, as he is still very fit and a favourite with the racing public. Ajax will be spelled for a few months.

The Xew Zealand-bred Mosaic surprised by defeating Maikai in the A.J.C. Plate. He finished with great dash, but showed signs of lameness after pulling up. Royal Chief finished gamely for third.
