NURSES FAREWELLED.

FOR OVERSEAS SERVICE

Members of the N'ew Zealand Registered Nurses' Association met at the Nurses , Home, Park Road, on Frid:iy night to honour seven nurses who have been selected for services overseas with the Ist New Zealand General Hospital. Guests were received by Mr*. C. \V. Knight, president of the Auckland branch, and Mis* E. M. Nutsey, matron of the northern district.

Mrs. Knight, in welcoming the g;ie*ls of honour, Sisters A. C. Twthill, K. Herd. A. K. Bowman, J. Giltillan, M. E. Jackson, R. Hobbs and J. Martin, congratulated them on being selected for service overseas and presented each with a gift from members of the association. As Mis* Nutsey introduced the sisters, and gave them some friendly advice learned from her own experiences during the Great War, a representative of the Student Nurses' Association presented each eister with a beautiful posy of i-ed, white and blue flowers. Mrs. P. J. North, president of the Returned Army Nursing Sisters' Association, also addressed the guests. Sieter E. M. Jackson, who replied on behalf of the sisters, said ehe was sure the chosen members would do their utmost to uphold the traditions of the nursing profession*.

Items were given by Mies Joyce Jenkins. Miss W. Wallis and Miss L. M. Hendry, and the evening concluded with supper.
