Tho annual yacht races from Auckland to Coromandel, promoted by the Coromandel regatta sports committee,* started at 9.3."» a.m. yesterday in a fresh south-west breeze. The keelers' race was won by XV. Goodwell's Maranui. and that for centreboard jacnts by r. Smith's Varuna. E. Carr's 20-foot er Omatore did tlic distance of 3.1 miles in 4 hours US minutes, easily tho best record since the inception of the race eleven years a so. and equalling the rrcord of llio yacht Ida, J hours 20 minutes, to Te Kouma, as the distance As a mile longer. Entries and handicap were: Keeiers.—Gypsy, scr: Xgahau. lGm: Tnimara, 30m; Moutere. -14m; Loloma. 60m; Xiobe, bom ; Talua, Uom; Maranui, SOm.
