LABOURER'S THEFT.

FROM JXWEXXER'S SHOP. I (From Our Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, Tuesday. A labourer, Thomas Alexander McGregor (82), arrived in Paeroa on Monday and when slightly under the influence of liquor entered the sh.op of T. J, L. Broadley, jeweller, during the temporary absence of the owner and removed from the counter a clock, Inkstand and ash trey, of a total value of £2 U/6. When the theft was reported to Constable Lilley he sought McGregor, for he had 39 previous convictions of a similar nature since 1033. The stolen goods were found in his possession. Pleading guilty before Messrs. E. Edwards and P. Williams, J.P.'s, at the Pseroa Court this morning, McGregor wa* convicted and sentenced to two months' imprisonment.
