KEEN TOMATO DEMAND.

HAMILTON MARKETS ACTIVE. With the brighter weather the market was more active at Turner and Fow« Hamilton auction markets to-day. The demand for good quality tomatoes was keen, and the best lines realised up to 7/ a case. Plums and peaches were keenly sought, and prices were much better. Pears and apples were available in fair quantities, and sold readily. The demand for oranges was poor, and ripe bananas were plentiful. All vegetables were in good supply, and met with a keen demand. Oliakune cabbages and cauliflowers realised high prices, cauliflowers making up to 13/6 a bag. Green peas- also sold at higher rates. Potatoes were not so plentiful, but the demand was poor. Prices were: — Apples: Gravenstein, 5/6 to 8/6 per case. Pears: William Bon Chretien, 8/ to 10/6. Tomatoes: Outdoor, 3/ to 7/. Grapefruit, 28/6 to 33/6; lemons, 9/6 to 18/6; bananas, 15/ to 22/6; grapes, 7d to 1/1% per lb. Peaches: Paragon, 4/6 to 6/6 Jk'i case. Plums: Doris, 5/ to 7/; Purple 6/ to 8/. Jamaican oranges. 28/6 to 30/6. Vegetables: Beet, 6d to 9d per doeen; celery, dessert, 3/ to 3/6 per bundle; carrots, 6d to 1/ per dozen; cauliflowers, 10/ to 13/6 per sack; cabbages. 2/6 to 7/ per sack; cucumbers. 6d to 1/ per dozen; stringless beans, 6/6 to 8/6 per bag; green peas, 10/ to 11/9; lettuce, 4/ to 9/ per case; marrows, 3/ to 4/ per dozen; onions, 4/ to 5/ per bag; potatoes, 2/6 to 4/; pumpkins, 6/ to 8/ per sack; parsnips, 1/6 per dozen; rhubarb, 2/6; swedes, 3/6 per bag.
