MAXAM SPRINTS. A FAST FOUR. i PROUD FOX ALSO IMPRESSES. The outside grass provided good going at Takanini this morning, when features of the work were the efforts of Maxam, Proud Fox, Queen City and Miss Jose. Proud Fox (Smith) began a couple of lengths behind High Sea (Jackson) at the six-furlong poet, but had made up his leeway when the straight was reached, the pair finishing on terms in 1.16 2-5, the first three taking 37 3-ss. Proud Fox was doing his work nicely at the end. Princess Val (T. Green) strode leisurely over a similar distance in 1.19, while Grandora (Burgess) could have improved on his gallop over the same ground in 1.18 3-3. Venture (Smith) gave Royal Blend (Curwen) a couple of lengths' start at the five-furlong poet, the pair finishing together in 1.4 4-5, with Royal Blend and maintaining her two lengths' advanwell while traversing half a mile in 525. Maxam (Spinley) and Bronwen (Hatwell) jumped oil" at the four-furlong post, Maxam getting the better of the start and maintaining her two lengths advantage to the end in 48 4-ss. The Foxbridge—Aureola fillv fW;iltens) hit out pleasingly while covering three furlongs down the back stretch in 37 4-ss, doing her work well. Queen City (Green) was responsible for the best effort over that distance, recording 36 4-ss. Norse Lady (Logan) begin a couple of lengths in front of The Dozer (Cleaver 1 at the six furlong post, but the latter was not extended to finish on terms in 1.18. Xamara (Cleaver) covered six furlongs in 1.17 3-5, but he appeared to be a little sore when he left the track. From a barrier start. Miss Jose (Spinley). Aberdovey (Thomson) and Airport (Hatwell) were in close order at the end of three furlongs in 375. Miss Jose is to make her debut at the Te Arolia meeting. She is a promising fillv by Yaals from Transaction. The Vaals—Marion Acre filly (Sninley) and the Vaals—Xight Lamp filly (Thomson) also began from a barrier start, dashing over two furlongs in 24 3-.V, there being nothing between them at the end.
