CALIFORNIA'S BID. TRADE-BUILDING MISSION. | AUSTRALIAN VISIT ALSO. , (From Our Correspondent.) : SAX FRAXCISCO, December 18. Awakened by the splendid showing, made by Xew Zealand and Australia at the San Francisco Golden Rate International Exposition by the respective Antipodean national pavilions, California is reaching out for new business Jin Australia and New Zealand, and the |Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce will idispatch its second trade-building tour| to Australia and Xew Zealand onl i.January 31 aboard the Matson-Oceanic 'liner Mariposa. Mr. Charles P. Bayer,| ■field secretary of the institution, will; again direct the important cruise. I j Although planned several months ago, itlie trip gains particular importance from Australia's recently imposed rigid licensing restrictions on "noil-essential" imports. This edict, which threatens to practically wipe out the steadily growing trade of Los Angeles with the Antipodes in household needs, machinery, drugs and cosmetics, was imposed as a war measure to conserve Australia's credits abroad. Manufacturers and shippers of Southern California are hopeful that the 1 Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce ' group may aid the efforts of the United j States Department of Commerce to ■ secure a reduction of the Australian ' restrictions. Returning to Los Angeles ' on March IS on the Mariposa, the good- 1 w ill party will -visit Honolulu, American ■ Samoa, Fiji, Auckland, Sydney and ] Melbourne en route. ;
