THE EDITOR SUGGESTS . . .
Lily Troworn: I liked the lilting verso# or your "Pohutukawa" poem, Lllv, ami will be publishing 11 some time In the near future. I did not think that the la?t stanza was as good as the others, however, so 1 decided to omit this altogether. I» grade. Leonard SamuJ: Neither of the poems you sent me was quite up to publication standard, Leonard, but keep on trying-. Do not try and rhyme words that have totally different sounds. With a little more practice I am sure you will t)» l writing - quite pood verses. C grade. Pat Price: The only fault with your New Year poem was Its length, Pat. As our page* have been greatly reduced, short verses are more acceptable. A grade. Merle Cryer: "Ere Day is Here" and "Holiday?" will be published. Merle, but I did not think the other verse you sent me was or the same high standard, B grade. Shirley Cortwrlght: You possess dellidte rhyming ability, Shirley, but your poem was too lenKthy for our limited space. How about a short, short poem next time? Muriel Grainger: "To a Fallen Tree" was quite good, Muriel, but I am sure you are capable of much better work. The last verse was very good, but the others Tell below your usual standard. "The Sunset" will see print. B grade. Noel Ashby: I think you have tried to cram too much incident Into your "Pioneer Days," Noel, but yonr rhyming sense !s pood. The second verse Is much better, but I am afraid I have all the poems 1 can use at present. B grade. Annio Ah Chan: "Nature" was rather long. Annie, so I am only publishing the best of verses. B grade.
