YOUNG MEN'S OFFENCES.

COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE.

Three young men, Ernest Patrick Lawrence Macken, labourer, aged 18 Ernest Macken Leslie, labourer, aged 20, and Francis Noel Popham, motor driver, aged 18, appeared in the Police Court this morning on a series of charges of breaking and entering and theft. Mr. A. Mooay appeared for Leslie and Mr. E. Wright for Macken and Ponham. r

All three accused were charged with breaking and entering the premises of Moody s Dye Works and Browne Bros, and Geddes; Popluim and Mackem with breaking 1 and entering the premises of G. A. Coles and Co., and Leslie and 1 opham with breaking and enterin« the premises of Skateways, Ltd. Leslie was also charged with breaking and entering the premises of S. J. Best, and Popham was separately charged with breaking and entering the premises of Ross and filendining, Leonard C. Kent, F. R Hutchinson, and Ward Bros. All told £8 19/ in cash and goods to the value of £64 14/10 were alleged to have been stolen. The goods comprised men's and women's clothing, footwear, silk, confectionery, cigarettes, tools and a dictaphone. Signed statements made bv the accused to Detectives E. W. Mahoo'd and H. A. Moore, admitting all the charges, were read. The accused pleaded guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed.
