FIVE EVENTS.

MATINEE TROTTING. PROGRAMMp FOR FEBRUARY 1

A five-event programme has been drawn up by the Auckland" Trotting Owners, Trainers and Breeder**' Association for the matinee meeting to be held at Alexandra Park 011 February 3. In the event of the starters in the Publicans' Purse exceeding 15 the race, will be run in two divisions, eac-h division to be treated' as a separate event and trophies awarded accordingly. The programme Is as follows :—Two-year-old Trial, one mile; President's Plate, for three and four-.vear-old maiden pacers, one mile and a quarter; Groat Memorial, novice trotters, one mile and a half; Novice Drivers' Handicap (whips not allowed), one mile and a half; I'ubllcaus' Purse, maiden pacers, one mile and a half.

A valuable cup, donated by Mr. C. P. Surinnn. will be presented to the successful relnsman in the Novice Drivers' Handicap. Entries for all events will close on Thursday. January 25.

The following officials have been appointed for the meeting :—Judge, Mr. E. V. Sutherland: starter, Mr. J. Gavin; timekeepers, Messrs. J. K. Douglas, E. S. Kohn and M. V. Kronfeld: clerk of scales, Mr. S. Ward: assistant, Mr. Ward, jun.; birdcage steward, Mr. C. P. Surman; horse stewards, Messrs. K. E. Cressy and A. Brown; announcer, Mr. C. E. Craig; judicial committee. Messrs. C. Cowan (chairman), E. C. Webberley, H. E. Salter, G. A. riant and T. D. bawson; patrol stewards, Messrs. J. Young, J. T. Paul, J. Gee. T. Roe, G. H. Stubbs. R. W. Soiirfe, A. T. Xewdick and .T. Stormont ; social stewards. Mrs. I. fl. Sweetapple, Messrs. C. H. Trigg, J. McKendrick, G. A. Plant, E. C. Webberley and C. Stormont.

Messrs. J. T. Paul and J. Gee were empowered to frame the handicaps for the Novice Drivers' event.

The executive of the association having decided to hold a general meeting and reunion on Monday, February 12, the following committee has been set up to arrange details Messrs. Cowan, Ward, Downes. Surnmn, Paul, Eddowes, Gee, Salter, Trigg, Young, Plant and Craig.

MATAMATA RACING CLUB.

The autumn meeting of the Matamata Racing Club will be held at Matamata on Saturday, February 3, and an excellent programme has been arranged, full particulars of which are advertised in this issue. The Mataxnata Cup of £400, one mile and a quarter, is tae principal event, while the Okoroire Hack Handicap of £240, nine furlongs, is next in importance. The Walton Handicap, seven furlongs and a quarter, is worth £220, as is the Waharoa Handicap, six furlongs. All the otlher events are well endowed. Nominations are due with Messrs. Blorn field -and Company, Shortland Street, Auckland, at 5 p.m., or the secretary, Mr. B. C. Taylor, Matamata, at 9 p.m. to-morrow. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. The midsummer meeting of the Auckland Racing Club will be held at Ellerslie on January 27 and 29, and acceptances for the first day are due with the secretary, Mr. W. S. Spence, at 5 p.m. to-mor-row. At the same time a final payment has to be made for the Wynyard Plate.
