WELLINOTOX, Tuesday

The time had come for the. old wornout hammer shotgun to go by the board; it was time its importation was prevented, said the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. K. Parry, to-day, at the opening of the Centennial trapshooting tournament of the Xew Zealand (Jun Clubs' Association at Taita.

It was obvious from the number of accidents with guns that the time had arrived to take some such steps, said Mr. Parry. In the last 12 months for whk-h he had figures there were. 54 accidents with firearms, of which 2(i were fatal. Clubs should give some consideration to the question of the hammer shotgun.
