After transaction of routine business at last night's meeting of the Auckland Cricket Association, members of the victorious Plunket Shield team were entertained by the management committee. He dlil not think that, the province had ever had a hitter representative eleven. In only one department, running between the wickets, would he give preference t» players in the past. Replying to the speeches of welcome and eulogy, Wallace said his task as captain had been made comparatively easy owing to the excellent (support received from members of the twiiii. Price, who was manager of the junior representatives on their ambitious southern tour, reported fully on the visits to Wellington and Christchurch, which extended from December 25 to January 3. The executive heartily complimented him upon his team's splendid performances in winning both the Interprovincial and Brjibin Cups. The latter is a challenge trophy for competition between Wellington and Auckland only. This time the match also counted for the first New Zealand junior representative tourney at Christehureh, for which city the North Island teams sailed after Auckland had beaten Wellington at Kilbirnie, on I>ecember '28. In the additional Interprovincial Cup series Auckland beat both Canterbury and Otago. The final points were: Auckland l'J, Canterbury 10. Wellington 8, Otago G. the reckoning being on the Plunket Shield basis of eight for outright victory, four for win on h'rst innings and two for loss on first innings. Arrangements for the match between Auckland and Taranakl. to be played at New Plymouth next Monday and Tuesday, were finalised. The Auckland Association's decision not to permit the broadcasting of representative matches unless payment were made, was referred to in a letter received from the Director of Broadcasting. Professor Shelley stated that it was not intended to broadcast bnll-to-ball descriptions of the matches. The Wellington and Canterbury Associations advised that they were supporting Auckland in the stand it had taken. Coaching of secondary and primary schools players is to be resumed after their holidays. Hellaby Shield. "It is very gratifying that there is such a demand for this type of cricket." said Mr. Fee, when commenting on the outstanding success ot the country week tourney. The report submitted by the country committee stated that the Hellaby Shield was again won by Pukekohe. A record number of teams took part, and another feature was the excellent state of the wickets provided at the Domain. On the suggestion of Mr. h. B.
