QUICK SOUP.
A large tin of tomatoes makes a delicious soup which can be prepared in a few minutes. Put the tomatoes in a saucepan with a pint and a half of water, a dessertspoonful of sugar, half a teaspoonfwl of salt, a quarter of a tee spoonful of pepper, and half a chopped onion. Put in a sprig of parsley, half a dozen peppercorns and two cloves, one blade of mace, all tied in a piece of muslin. Bring to the boil, and fitir in a dessertspoonful of flour which has been worked into a dessertspoonful of butter. This should be added in small piece.!. Simmer until soft, which will be in ten to fifteen minutes, remove the muslin bag, and rub the rent through a sieve. Serve very hot. A small tin of cre«m added at the last moment is an improvement, but i» not essential.
