TRENTHAM CANDIDATES.

WANGANVI HORSES.

SIR BEAU GOES NICELY

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

WANGANIJI, Monday. Wanganui horses engaged at Trentham performed satisfactorily in their final gallops before leaving. The weather was fine, but the tracks too hard ami crumbly to permit of extra fast times.

Sir Beau (K. Chote) gave Curtail (D. M. Home) a start in a spin over four furlongs, and gathering him quickly finished two lengths ahead in 51 2-ss, the first two fur lon bfintf done in 25 3-ss. Since tho holidays Sir Beau has gone on the right way, and lie must be very hard to beat in tho Wellington Stakes. The Heati colt moves from the barrier very fast and he is a determined galloper. .

Algerian (K. Chote) and Pekoe (F. Bentley) went five furlongs together, finishing on.teTms, ,the time being 1.3, the first t>hree furlongs being left behind in a shade over _ 3<3s, both hitting out freely. Algerian is to run in the Apprentices' Plate on Thursday, while Pekoe will contest the Ruapehu Hack Handicap event that day and the Douro Gup on Saturday. Pekoe appears to be back to his best form 'and the Koiek gelding ehould pay hw way on the trip.

Gipsy, the full sister to Pekoe, who won formerly an inmate of W. H. Dwyer'B stable, has been leased by Mr. A. Harrison and is now in K. Chote's stable. They will be bracketeil in the Ruapehu Hack Handicap. War Lap. who is to run in the highweight events at Trentham, was restricted to strong pace work. The Lapidary gelding is not partial to hard tracks, but he is itt good shape, and if the going is easy on Thursday lie should run a good race.

Aa he wan feeling tne effects of his fnieralie racing Aniigo wan given a brief let up and this appears 'to have had the desired effect, as the Beau Pere gelding is now looking bright and well. He slipped over four furlongs in 49 4-5s with K. Chote in the saddle. The Beau Pere gelding will be ridden by L. «T, Ellis in the Telegraph Handicap on Thwwlny, and he is likely to give a good account of himself.

Curtail, the half-brother by Posterity to Smoke Screen, is to make his debut at the Wanganui meeting. He is a typjcal Posterity, both in appearance and in siyle of galloping. A long strides', he takes time to settle down, and is not likely to be seen at hie best until later on and over middle distances.

Homily (W. Kayuer) will probably be seen out at Wanganui. She was given solid pacework over two circuits, sprinting up the 'straight.- ■ • ■' Dynasty and Behearsal were associated in useful .pacework. The former will probably carry Mr. Geo. Currie'e colours in the Wanganui Gup.
