TEMPORARY PROMOTIONS.
MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT.

WELLINGTON, Thursday.
fflie Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced to-night that consequent on the selection of regular officers for duty with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, the following changes in staff appointments and promotions to temporary rank are being made:—
Colonel P. H. Bell, N.Z.S.C., officer commanding the southern military district, to be Quartercnaster-Geiieral, Army Headquarters. and third military member of the Army Board, vice Colonel R. Miles, R.N.Z.A.. detailed for duty with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
Lieutenant-Colonel E. T. Rowlings, N./.5.C., from deputy-Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, to be officer commanding the southern military district and temporary colonel, vice Colonel P. H. Bell.
Major V. G. Jervis, N.Z.S.C., staff officer A duties, Army Headquarters, to be deputy-Adjutant-Gencral and temporary lieu-tenant-cnlonel, vice Lieutenant-Colonel E. T. Rowlings.
Captain D. M. Robertson (temporary staff), staff officer personnel. Army Headquarters, to be staff officer A .duties, Army Headquarters, and temporary major, vice Major V. G. Jervis.
Lieutenant-Colonel It. A. Row, N.Z.S.C., O. 5.0.1, central military district, to be officer commanding the central military district and temporary colonel, vice Colonel K. Putflck, detailed for duty with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary force.
Major H. M. Foster, N.Z.S.C., camp comnniiidnnt at the Burnham military camp to be G. 5.0.1, central military district, and temporary lieutenant-colonel, vice Lieu-tenant-Colonel U. A. Itow.
Lieutenant-Colonel S. D. Mason, to be transferred from the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force to the temporary staff and to he camp commandant at the Burnhain military cauip, vice Major\H. M. Foster.
Major A. Bongard. N.Z.S.C.. area st;iff officer, Duiiedin, to be <J. 5.0.1, southern military district and temporary lieutenantcolonel to fill the existing vacancy.
Captain A. J. Moore, N.Z.S.C., adjutant, southern district school, to be area staff officer, Dunedin, and temporary major, vice Major A. Bongr.rd.
